I think you're starting to get it, that I HAVE to listen to music to get into major creative flow. I can't listen to people talking directly to me—I can be in a cafe with lots of people talking at once, because it resembles white noise more than an actual conversation, but to be super connected to my creative self, music is on—headphones and totally private for me. I shut out the noise of anything else this way. Generally, I find a song I'm majorly crushing on and play it like a hundred times, no exaggeration. Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you I annoyingly play the same stuff over and over. They may even tell you my go to artists. Consistent for sure.
So today, I'm looping one of my faves (my absolute favorite actually) and belting out writing, because I'm connected totally. I feel all lit up, because I'm experiencing amazing creativity expressed by my favorite artist—the inhale of a glittering soundtrack of longing and beauty. Music is the fuel to my creativity—makes it super easy to write in my voice. There's no overthinking when I'm in this mode. I can probably tell you every time I've been super creative exactly what I listened to constantly.
What fuels your creativity? I'd love to hear from you. Leave a comment or two and invite others to join in on the fun.
