This may be one if the few Mondays of the year that are not filled with some trepidation since it is Labor Day. I wish those of you who do have the day off to enjoy it fully. Relax. Be with friends and loved ones. Make it an amazing day! Those of you who are working, you make it an amazing day too!
Labor Day is the symbolic end of summer. Many children have already returned to school, but here on the East Coast, kids are returning to school tomorrow. Routines change. New opportunities and friends come for them. It is a time of excitement and anxiety. It's the change and the walking into the unknown that we can honor and embrace rather than feel fear.
This week too is symbolic and filled with change for me and I am excited! It is the first time in eleven years that I will not be returning to work as a teacher. All summer it has only felt as though I was on vacation just like all of the teachers, but tomorrow as my former colleagues return, I will be at home working on bringing you some amazing programs and courses for Write for Healing, reading this week's module for grad school, and (maybe) some cleaning. I know for sure I will be blasting some music and dancing around the house since no one will be home. It'll be my way of celebrating! Bring on the change! I am so ready!
Look, I am a die hard summer person, so when Labor Day comes, I feel a little of that sadness, but when I look at it from the perspective of change and embracing all of the wonderful opportunities and as part of flow, I am honored and happy to be able to be in change and be open to the new and the unknown. I would rather be vulnerable and uncomfortable as I forge through life on my terms than live a life that feels false.
Here's to our collective change! Happy Monday!
Much love to you!
