Much like the "Monday Motivator", the "Fridays Are Fabulous" entry will be a weekly thing. Always short and sweet.
I want to honor Fridays for the awesomeness that occurs all week. Fridays are generally an end of work version you and the beginning of weekend you. The transition is dramatic for some and for others it may feel all the same, but let's honor this day anyway!
Last week, I loved watching kids interact with each other. I took my kids to a drive-in theater in Pennsylvania. We were the second car to arrive. The first, a van, was filled with kids from the Fresh Air Fund and their chaperones. The kids immediately came up to us and began chatting. My kids ran off with them and played. When do most of us lose this ability to just go up to people and make instant friends? Something happens to many of us and we begin to hold back. Watching the kids interact reminded me of what it felt like to make friends as a child, even when I was feeling a little shy. Insecurities are brief as a child (mostly). The unease one feels as a child generally is over in a few moments and the child is off running and living and just being. Pretty fabulous.
So I ask, how can we open our hearts to the childlike wonder and innocence of talking to strangers with no fear or shame?
I am reminded to smile and talk to strangers just because that's what we do. We are all connected and I would like to continue to embrace that on every level possible.
Have a fabulous Friday and amazing weekend!
